Tutorial: How to create 3D contact with PTC Creo Parametric

Here is the short tutorial; How to create 3D contact with PTC Creo Parametric

1. Step 1:

   Create Newton's Cradle assembly
   

   

2. Step 2:

   Do not forget use the Pin constraint for main parts
   

   

3. Step 3:

   Select Application > Mechanism > 3D Contacts
   

   

4. Step 4:

   Select Surfaces for 3D contact (two spherical surfaces - for Newton's Cradle or one planar and second spherical - for Carambol's shots)
   

   

5. Step 5:

   Select contact Tab and set custom material for 3D contact - check necessary Properties (Poissin's ratio, young's modul and Damping)
   Note: try to manipulate with Damping value - you will see different final results
   

   

6. Step 6:

   Try to manipulate with assembly parts and create custom animation
   

   

7. Step 7:

   ... note: for animation of Carambol's shots - use the 6DOF constraints (for all balls)
