Tutorial: how to test if a model withstands a certain weight in SolidWorks?

Well here are steps for simple analysis. First of all i'm not any professional but maybe this will help you.

Step 1:
This is the bracket i'm going to use.

Step 2:
Open the part file and then go to Tools>>addins and check the SolidWorks Simulation there and click OK.

Step 3:
Now under simulation tab click Study advisor and New study.

Step 4:
Enter any name and keep the default type of study (i.e. Static). Click OK.

Step 5:
Now click Apply material.

Step 6:
Select the material and click apply and close.

Step 7:
Under Fixture advisor choose Fixed geometry.

Step 8:
The fixture property manager will show. Here we have to define the faces which will remain fix during the loading condition.

Step 9:
Select the holes and click OK. These holes will be fixed by bolts.

Step 10:
Now select External Loads and then Force.

Step 11:
Select the face under load and enter the value of load. Click OK.

Step 12:
Now click Run under simulation tab. Some meshing screen and solver will process and after done the deformed part will show.

Step 13:
This is the analysis output screen. You can change the different option under results for desired output.
