A year out of university to work for a company to gain work experience. The job role was described as surface engineer but during my placement i was heavily involved in product layouts, part changes required for tooling (mostly injection mounded parts), producing early surface models to aid with product layouts, creating internal and external components, modifying parts during the design process and preforming PLM tasks such as creating new parts and updating changed parts.
Taken on after graduating from university on a graduate scheme within Stanley Black and Decker , during the graduate scheme there are many rotations where i work in different areas of the company. rotation 1 is carrying out the same role as was carried out during my placement year rotation 2 working with the quality team within SAP to help track any possible quality issues that may be occurring in production products, and creating procedures that can help in detection of any issues. rotation 3 Working in the Czech Republic at the Dewalt manufacturing plant to get exposure to the manufacturing processes, work in the resident engineering team to help fix any issues that may be occurring with products or on the manufacturing lines, work with the cost saving team to try and remove any unnecessary costs from the products or manufacturing processes.
