Inventor to Solidworks
I’m trying to send a full tube chassis assembly from Inventor to a buddy who works in SolidWorks. I model everything in Fusion/Inventor, and the goal is for him to have full edit ability of the individual 3D solid tubes, not just a single lump of geometry. Assembly is around 350 individual bodies.
Here’s what I’ve run into so far:
• Exporting as STEP works, but some tubes that are touching get merged into one solid.
• Parasolid (.x_t / .x_b) seems cleaner, but still doesn’t always keep each tube as a separate editable part.
• If I convert the model to an assembly before exporting, it helps a little—but some tubes still come in grouped or fused together.
Has anyone figured out a clean workflow for this? Basically looking for the best way to go from Fusion/Inventor → SolidWorks and keep every tube as its own editable solid or part.
