Best way to recreate this in solidworks?
Can someone please explain how to replicate this in solidworks? It is a multiple lap joint. I need to make it so that the weld feature runs through all three parts. It is part of a school project on friction stir welding.
I've been working on this for hours now trying to figure out the best way to go about it but i'm just stuck now, please help :(

Im not sure if this is what youre after but I made this pretty quickly, I just extruded three solids and unchecked merge solids from the extrusion menu, then did a sweep profile and didnt merge the results again. You could do this as an assembly as well if you wanted. Just think about it how you would actually weld it. You would place all three of your plates down then you would grind a notch into it, IE assembly cut feature in the shape of the weld profile. Then you could insert a new part and using the end surfaces where the "notch" is use convert geometry and extrude that as your "weld" part. hope that helps. Just two simple ways to get it done.
