Can you create a Solidworks Assembly with step files?

By Ashley Chen on 01 Jul 07:37 1 answer 0 comments

I'm trying to make an assembly in Solidworks using step files I downloaded from online. It's not letting me import the files, and I was wondering if there is something in the option I can switch off. I've tried creating an assembly in Autodesk Inventor using the step files and it successfully worked. I don't want to run a diagnostic or any feature recognition on every part (There's about 200 step files). Please help.

SolidWorks can open many type of file, but to make an assembly directly from STEP file unfortunately you can't. You must open the STEP file first and then save into SolidWorks format, such as *.sldasm or *.sldprt
to disable your part diagnostic or feature recognition, you just tick the "Don't ask me again"
