Hi
you can not open STL format in photoview and make rendering, even if you save the as SLDPRT (not a solid model).
But you can save model as JPG without photoview:
save as
save as tipe JPG
click options
click print capture
DPI: 300 or more
paper size: as you wish
Ok
Save
:)

Make a render with photoview. Go to photoview options and set imagefile as PNG. This will render only your model and not the background. Set render quality at maximum.

I want to mention that file was .stl. After that I save in SW2010.SLDPRT.
Next step I open photoview 360 and I tried to open this SW part and nothing...
A make a verification and I created a simple cad part in SW and this file has gone open in photoview....

I remember that older version of PV360 or was it photoworks that surfaces were ignored and it would only render solids. try creating a simple cube in the same file as the ST import and see if that renders, if so you then need either convert the stl into a solid file.
I vaguely remember an option to render surfaces or not but can't find that in the SW 2012 that I have installed.
Good luck
