HOW CAN I RECOVER MY CATIA PART FILE FROM OVER WRITTEN
TODAY I WAS WORKING ON MY CATIA SURFACE AS WELL AS PART MODELLING. Unfortunately, I SAVED MY FILE INTO DIFFERENT FORMAT WHILE PERFORMING RENDERING OPERATION. I DONT KNOW WHICH FORMAT IT COVERED INTO. THE CONVERTED FILE SHOWS ITSELF AS A CATIA FILE ONLY. BUT WHEN I TRY TO OPEN IT REFUSES INSTEAD DIALOGBOX APPEARS SAYING FAILED READING DOCUMENT . I ATTACHED SCREENSHOT OF THAT DIALOG BOX

I am using CATIA V5R21. Today i got this error while working on a GO Kart model. Finally i found a "long name.CATPart.bck" file and by opening it separately it recoved my model which i save with proper name and extension .CATPart.
Note that in my case, after catia termination, data recovery was failed. I also tried desk command but it do not recognize .bck file. after several attempts. i close catia and open .bck file after fresh start
Try the another way. Open assembly design, then click on insert existing part, browse your file and press ok. This opens up the file. This might work.
