How to convert a STL file into a solid model in Inventor and edit it?

Hi there,
I've been given quite a complex geometry in STL format. Due to the lack of other programmes, I have to re-edit this geometry in Inventor, but simply importing and converting the file doesn't work. I can see the geometry, turn it around etc., but Inventor doesn't seem to recognise it for editing. Are there any tricks or add-ons you can recommend for turning the stl file into an editable model?

Hi... STL format is the mesh data which can only view but not edit. You can download the mesh enabler tool from autodesk. It can convert the mesh feature to inventor base feature. The result can be used for drawing and measurement. You can click this URL to download the tool : http://labs.autodesk.com/utilities/inventor_mesh. Hope it solve your problem. Thanks
