How to make a single surface without edges?

Is there any possibility to merge all of these small surfaces of the head into a single one? I need to make a mate between a point from a sphere and this face so i could freely drag sphere along all of the head surface. For now I can only mate this sphere with a single surface.

Have you tried knitting all of the surfaces together, using the 'Surface Knit' tool? This should do the job.
