How to save a outer visible surface of a assembly in solid words?

is it possible to save a outer surface of a assembly in solid works.
tried saving a assembly as a part but all the surface of the parts saving.
all i need is to know how to save a assembly outer visible surface only without any internal features or surfaces

What you did should work. If you have an air hole, SW wont be able to determine interior from exterior. (You may have to plug your holes).
If plugging the holes does not work, you can just delete the surfaces you don't want.
