methods for create solid from stl

Hello
i have 3d scanned stl file and i generated a solid body from it by power surfacing in solidworks
buy the problem is it generates more irregular faces and makes difficulties to analysis the model in softwares like ansys and abaqus...
does anybody have idea to solve this problem and generate solid with regular faces ?
or is there any cad software can do this ?
i attach the image of my model and the image of a regular model that i found in web and want to do like it.

Here's a screenshot showing the progression from a dense mesh, to a decimated mesh (about 50% triangle count reduction), to a patchwork of surfaces to approximate the original model. I'd say it is accurate to about +/- .005", but I did not take the time to analyze the results.

The resulting models are quite large. A SOLIDWORKS model is 60MB. Step is 300MB. Parasolid is 140MB.

How was the original mesh model created? I assume it is from scan data, but it was very clean, and well processed without errors, and few obvious patches.
