Selecting/highlighting part not assembly in inventor

By Tufan Unal on 08 Nov 12:19 5 answers 650 views 0 comments

Hello all I've been using solidworks for years and from now on I need to use Inventor for a new job. I am used selecting parts in a assembly by clicking on them. But in Inventor it selects assembly that part included in. So I cant Isolate two different parts which are in different assemblies on a top level assembly. Is there any option to change it.

Thanks a lot .

There is a drop down at the top to change your selection tool. See the image attached.

Another possibility is given by the short-cut SHIFT + Right Mouse Button.
In the pop-up menu you can select "Component Priority"

There are a lot of things that I need to get used to. Migrating habbits from one UI to another is really hard. Thank you for your help.

If you are describing parts in different assemblies... You may have to pull them from the assemblies that they are in from the browser tree. You can always replace them into their assemblies, but often times I have found that I find it easier to create an assembly with what parts I want dependent on each other
