Nice shortcuts for nice modeling

  1. Step 1:

First look at the planes (it's just for reference (you really don't need to look at it...)).

  2. Step 2:

Say, you want to sketch something on the minute hand
Click on it, select sketch and press Ctrl+8 for the normal view, instead of searching for normal view in the menu bars.

    Your time savings: 1,5 seconds

  3. Step 3:

Now you want to have an isometric view while you are extruding your sketch. Nothing easier, Ctrl+7.

    Your time savings: 2 seconds

  4. Step 4:

You want to see the bottom as isometric view, to be sure the cut is through the model? Ok, hold Shift + click the axis around which you want to rotate, two times (in my case the x axis).

    Your time savings: 2 seconds

  5. Step 5:

Wooho nice. You want to do that also in the normal view? Go to a normal view (select plane, then Ctrl + 8), hold Shift + click the axis about which you want to rotate.

  6. Step 6:

Note that if you hold shift and click on the axis staring at you, the model will rotate on the normal plane.

Your time savings: 1,5 seconds per View change

  7. Step 7:

So here again, all the view shortcuts to remember:

  8. Step 8:

You just saved 7s or around 10% of your value time in an 1 minute long manipulation of a simple model.

Now imagine how much time you save with this shortcuts in an huge modeling project. Sketching with right hand and changing views with the left one...

    I know, mind blowing!
