How to model the StMary30st in Rhinoceros3D and show design intent.

Here my explanation on how to do
-
Step 1:
Import a reference image as background.
Place it in the front view and center it over the Z axis.
Scale the image to fit the real height of the building.
Trace a ControlPoint Curve over the externa profile -
Step 2:
Using the _Revolve tool create the main surface of the building.
-
Step 3:
Using the _UVCurve tools create the UV rectangle, it's like to unroll the surface.
Inside the rectangle create a grid of lines, in this case along the diagonal. -
Step 4:
Let's use the Sweep1R with a square section to create a 3DGrid from the grid lines.
-
Step 5:
A closer view of the result
-
Step 6:
Over the 3DGrid create a simple rectangular Plane.
Split this plane with the grid lines and change color to the resulting tiles.
In fact this are the panels over the structure. -
Step 7:
Now the magic parts: using FlowSrf deform, bend, the flat 3D model over the main surface to get a much complex shape following the main surface.
-
Step 8:
The deformed structure
-
Step 9:
A closed view of the result
-
Step 10:
