Tutorial: How to analyze a distributed force in Catia V5 FEM Analysis

Download the file:
Tutorial_FEM_plate.CATPart
-
Step 1:
Open the file "Tutorial_FEM_plate.CATPart"
a material is already given to the part so you can start den analysis -
Step 2:
Open the analysis:
Start -> analysis & simulation -> generative structural analysis
choose "static analysis" -
Step 3:
create a "smooth virtual part" on both holes of the plate
-
Step 4:
create a "user-defined restraint" on both of the smooth virtual parts as shown in the picture
-
Step 5:
create a "surface slider" on the rear edge of the plate
-
Step 6:
create a distributed force on the front upper edge of the plate
500 N in negative z-axis -
Step 7:
doubleclick on "OCTREE Tetrahedron Mesh"
set size to 4mm
set absolute sag to 1mm
make sure element type is "parabolic" -
Step 8:
compute your analysis
-
Step 9:
click on "von mises stress" to get your analysis results
you can also select "displacement"
or "principal stress" to get a nice view on the compressive/tensile stress
(especially around the holes) -
Step 10:
