In this video, designing of flange and tubes are explained in AutoCAD. Flange and tubes are most widely used in Automobile applications and piping for carrying fluids. In this video, the following comments are used: Line - For creating the sketches in 2D window Circle - For creating the sketches in 2D window Join - To join multiple segment as single segment for extruding Trim - for trimming the excess curves and lines Erase - for erasing the undesired parts in sketch Presspull - to extrude the cross section in different thickness Sweep - to create the tube part Subtract - to make the hollow tube

My understanding of the problem is that you want to use the surface you created as the top surface of your solid. I would have started my model a little differently but with what you have here is how I would achieve what you are looking for. Here is a link to video of me doing it. http://youtu.be/_QlfGXh7ghU These commands are not on the standard feature ribbon by default and you can add them if you use them a lot, or do like I did and just use the command finder search bar.
