How To Create a Revolve in SOLIDWORKS Creating revolves in SOLIDWORKS can be achieved in a few simple steps. This article discusses what geometry is required to create a revolve as well as how to visualize the required sketch profile. In order to create a revolve in SOLIDWORKS, you need a sketch from which the revolve can be created as well as an axis for this sketch to be revolved around. The first thing to understand is what the sketch profile should look like in order to create a revolve. Rules to Follow There are certain rules that should be followed when creating a revolve. A centerline, axis, sketch line or linear edge must be specified as the axis of revolution The sketch must not cross the axis Create a new 2D sketch Create all solid sketch geometry on one side of the axis Choose Revolve Boss/Base from the features menu Pick the axis you wish to use for the revolve Specify direction and angle Accept the Feature https://www.cadtek.com/create-revolve... ---------------------------------------------

SolidWorks: Cut-Extrude Basics EXTRUDED CUT Using the Extruded Boss/Base model created in the Extruded Boss/Base blog, we will modify the 3D block to include a circle feature by removing material. The Extruded Cut feature can be found on the features tab in the Command Manager interface You can also go to the toolbar and click Insert Cut -Extrude to pull up the Cut-Extrude Feature menu as well. Once the Extrude menu appears on the left-hand side of your screen, it will prompt you to select a plane or sketch that will be used to create the 3D model feature. Select the desired 2D sketch from the feature tree by clicking on the sketch name as shown. The Cut-Extrude feature will then preview the shape of cut based on the selected sketc The Cut-Extrude feature button will prompt you to set parameters in the menu FROM Under the “From” header there is a drop-down list containing a variety of options of where to start the Cut-Extrude from.

How to Install a Slip on Flange Slip on flanges usually “slip” over a pipe and are welded in place. This allows the flanges to swivel freely to easily align bolt holes prior to installing and welding in place. Flanges are most often used to connect pipes that have diameters of more than 2 inches. The flange’s joint consists of two matching disks of metal, separated by a gasket, that are bolted together to achieve a secure seal with the gasket material. The flange is attached to the pipe by screwed fittings. The flange uses force provided by the bolts to pre-load the gasket. When internal pressure is applied, there is enough contact stress between the flanges and gasket to maintain a seal. Check the flange and pipe to make sure there is no damage that may prevent a proper seal from being formed. Slide the slip-on flange onto the pipe using your hand. Determine where you will be welding the flange to the pipe. In most cases, you will be welding the flange to the end of the pipe. Use a welder to weld the insid
