what are commands used in nx to convert, and how to know model is un parametric.
There are no specific commands for the conversion of non parametric to parametric model. only difference is whether we are making it parametric by using 'sketch based features' (part modelling) or surfacing.
Depending on that your approach gets validate. It varies for supplier to supplier.
Non parametric model has to history of any feature used for its creation. It will be a dump or dead body. It will show a single 'body0' in your part navigator.
For converting it, you need to specify CSYS at such a postion such that its functionality. And then only you can start your modelling.
If you have any doubts feel free to ask.
I wanted to know how to go about modelling the front half of the vehicle for pedestrian impact analysis. What i need is a single parametric base model to represent different classes of vehicle. I will not need the features and intricate designs specific to each model but however i will need the features such as bumper height angle, width and curvature to be controlled and paramateric. If you could point me in the right direction to tackle this it would be really helpful.
good job.. varad
Dear Varad, I have a model which has many Bodies. I am not able to Edit it, can you please help me on this issue
can you send me that non parametric model? I will try to make it parametric. So that you can get a proper approach to do it.
I can tell you the whole step by step procedure. but it will vary from model to model. The only thing is when you take datum CSYS in first step, it should not be dependent upon your dead body. And your CSYS should be placed in such a way that datum should be main touching surfaces(when we assemble it).
obviously you can take the datum anywhere you want as far as modelling is concerned. But considering assembly purpose we should think likewise.
the commands you are going to use will be the same. i.e. extrude, draft, edge blend etc. Also your dead body and the features you are going to apply should not be associative.
That means if you delete the dead body then also your features will remain intact. They should be independent.
thanks, for example, the file which we created in the solid works, through conversion file format we opened in UG nx7.5, it will shows only one single body in part navigator, that's called dead body or non parametric model. how to convert that file for parametric model, sir...
