How to move an element within a part
I am working with a bearing, and I need to separate each of its elements (ie: bottom ring, inner ring, etc..), but the attached image is the error message I get when I try to drag an element away.
Not sure how to perform either of the commands. Some help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are working with a CATIA V5 assembly (CATProduct file), you can move the individual parts by dragging with the compass.
If you are working with a part (CATPart file), we need more information to help you. Could you attach a picture showing the tree diagram.
check the constraints given and delete which are with the part you wants to move
