Tutorial - Analysis of Rectangular beam under UDL in SolidWorks?

Here is the tutorial.

  1. Step 1:

    Right plane >> Sketch.

  2. Step 2:

    Draw a Rectangular cross-section of beam.

  3. Step 3:

    Extrude it by 400mm.

  4. Step 4:

    Under simulation tab select New study under study advisor arrow.

  5. Step 5:

    Keep the default settings for now and click OK.

  6. Step 6:

    Right click Apply material since we have to apply material to the part in order to study the load effects.

  7. Step 7:

    Select alloy steel and click Apply and close.

  8. Step 8:

    Click Fixed geometry under fixture advisor.

  9. Step 9:

    Select the back right face for the fixed face.

  10. Step 10:

    Click Force under external load advisor.

  11. Step 11:

    Select the top face of the beam and input a force value of 10000N.

  12. Step 12:

    Click OK. Now our model is prepared for study.

  13. Step 13:

    Click Run to start solving our problem.

  14. Step 14:

    The Solver will start and will take some time to solve the problem.

  15. Step 15:

    After done it will show the stress distribution on the beam.

  16. Step 16:

    Right click Stress1 and select Animate.

  17. Step 17:

    Now we can see the animation of the stress distribution under loading.

  18. Step 18:

    Select displacement1 for displacement analysis.

  19. Step 19:

    For strain distribution click Strain1.
