Many SolidWorks assemblies shared on GrabCAD fail when opened: missing parts, rebuild errors, broken Toolbox components, or unstable mates. This tutorial explains a practical and proven workflow to prepare and publish SolidWorks assemblies that open correctly on any system, even on a fresh SolidWorks installation. Covered topics: How to correctly handle Toolbox components How to detect and block external references How to avoid rebuild errors and missing parts How to stabilize mates before publishing How to prepare assemblies for safe reuse by others The focus is not on theory, but on real problems encountered when sharing assemblies and how to eliminate them before uploading. If you want your models to be reliable, reusable, and well-received by the community, this workflow is essential.

The key to this tutorial is the downloaded example. To make any 3D frame from 2020 aluminum extrusions, this is the workflow to make it. This tutorial retraces my steps to set up the profile files necessary and build a 3D sketch, then use weldments to form a custom frame design. After you learn this, any frame design is easy! This tutorial is made for users with basic solidworks experience - you maybe new to 3D sketches and to weldments. I'm just publishing this simple example and the tutorial is intended as a self-paced discovery. [Purpose] The purpose of using weldments is to capture the benefits that include: ► long beams automatically form to the desired cut length. ► miters are available, or straight cuts. ► planning the frame, adjusting the shape, and visualizing is done together. ► automatically compute the materials needed to order & cut. ► if designer chooses a new frame material, you can choose a new profile & recompute ► all of the geometry is made from one simple sketch, inside the profile, that you control.

This was inspired by a question posted in my latest video the "Black Belt in Alibre: 二段": https://youtu.be/nTS7fNJiP4c In it Generic0000-v1z discussed how we could make a Variable Pattern Fan Grill. I though this is an excellent example for a video showing this exact workflow! So here it is! Enjoy!!!
