Design an ingenious household object designed for 3D printing for the 2013 3D Printshow in London!
Challenge yourself to take an everyday household product you would find in the kitchen, living room or bedroom and rework it for 3D printing. Focus on making your design unique and functional.
Expand your mind and try to redesign something that you wouldn't normally think to 3D print. There is more to the house than vases and lamps! Step out of your comfort zone and create fresh, functional products that would surprise and delight anyone who takes pride in a well-designed home.
Winners will be announced and showcased at 3D Printshow, November 7th in London.
You must include:
- STEP or IGES version
- STL version optimized for 3D printing
- Rendering of your design
You are encouraged to include:
- Native CAD file format
- Why your design is unique and functional
- How you rethought things for 3D printing
- Any additional renderings
The winning design will be:
- 3D printable
- Unique, distinguished design
- A household object
The competition is open to everyone. Multiple entries are acceptable. Team entries are welcome - prize will be transferred to team leader. Participants may only win one prize per Challenge.
Tag your entry with “3dprintshow” when uploading to GrabCAD. If you submit through the "Submit entry" button, this should be added automatically. Only entries with valid tag will participate. Only entries uploaded to GrabCAD through the "Submit entry" button on this Challenge page will be considered an entry.
By entering this competition, you 1. Warrant that the work is your original work. 2. To the best of your knowledge, it is not, and has not been in production or otherwise previously published or exhibited. 3. Neither the work nor its use infringes the intellectual property rights (whether a patent, utility model, functional design right, aesthetic design right, trade mark, copyright or any other intellectual property right) of any other person.

Applicants are not entitled to any compensation or reimbursement for any costs. The applicant’s participation shall not constitute employment, assignment or offer of employment or assignment.
Winning designs will be chosen based on the rules and requirements. The Challenge ends on November 1, 2013 (11:59pm UTC). Winners will be announced at the 3D Printshow on November 7, 2013.
The awarded participant is solely liable for the payment of all taxes, duties and other similar measures if imposed on the reward pursuant to the legislation of the country of his/her residence, domicile, citizenship, workplace, or any other criterion of similar nature.
Finalists will not be released before the final announcement for this Challenge due to the live announcement at the mentioned event. Let the jury know about your favorites as they're entered to get your feedback into the decision.
The Challenge Sponsor has the right to promote the winning entries.
Only public entries will be considered. Any private submissions will be made public at the Challenge deadline.

The jury will be comprised of experts from 3D Printshow and GrabCAD.
